The lake is part of the Yli-Vuokki recreational fishing area. The fish stock of Kev\u00e4ttij\u00e4rvi has been enhanced for several years by stocking trout and landlocked salmon. Fishing is best in summer with a private rowboat, which can be launched from the boat slipway (natural ramp). The water in Kev\u00e4ttij\u00e4rvi is clear, and in many places the shore is sandy and shallow. The boat slipway is also the village's shared natural bathing beach, so please ensure you keep the beach tidy. Fishing in Kev\u00e4ttij\u00e4rvi requires a permit. From the back shore of the lake, from the cove of Joenniskanlahti, begins the shallow V\u00e4lijoki river, from where you can paddle to the nearby Kivi-Kev\u00e4tti lake and from there along the Aittojoki river to Viiankij\u00e4rvi lake. The Aittojoki is crossed by the Kaartoj\u00e4rvi forest road, which is a suitable final stage if you don't want to paddle all the way to Viiankij\u00e4rvi lake. The river has no rapids, but in places the river is covered with abundant aquatic vegetation. In spring, the river is covered in a profusion of blooming sedges. Along the river you can see the magnificent, extensive marshes of the V\u00e4lijoki, which are also worth seeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Malahvia Nature Reserve<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The northern and eastern shores of Lake Kev\u00e4ttij\u00e4rvi, as well as the island, are part of the Malahvia Nature Reserve and belong to Kalevala Park. The Vienan reitti trail skirts the shore of Lake Kev\u00e4ttij\u00e4rvi at Hyrynhiekka, from where one can admire the peace of the wilderness lake and the untouched
