Lake Kevättijärvi - a fisherman's dream

Kevättijärvi is a wilderness lake where an angler can catch magnificent large perch or stocked valuable fish. The lake is part of the Yli-Vuokki recreational fishing area. The fish stock of Kevättijärvi has been strengthened for several years with stocked trout and lake salmon. Fishing is best in summer with your own rowing boat, which can be launched from the boat ramp (natural slipway). There are also a couple of rental boats available, which can be rented from Ala-Vuokki store, Saku Mäkeläinen on 045 7834 7825. The water in Kevättijärvi is clear, and in many places the shore is sandy and shallow. The boat ramp is also the village's shared natural beach, so please take care of the cleanliness of the shore. Fishing at Kevättijärvi requires a permit. At Luotoniemi, there is a maintained campfire site and a dry toilet for hikers.

Paddling on the Välijoki river and Aittojoki river

Hikers can also enjoy Lake Kevättijärvi by canoe. From the back shore of the lake, from the cove of Joenniskanlahti, begins the shallow Välijoki river, from where you can paddle to the nearby Kivi-Kevätti lake and from there along the Aittojoki river to Viiankijärvi lake. The Aittojoki is crossed by the Kaartojärvi forest road, which is a suitable final stage if you don't want to paddle all the way to Viiankijärvi lake. The river has no rapids, but in places the river is covered with abundant aquatic vegetation. In spring, the river is covered in a profusion of blooming sedges. Along the river you can see the magnificent, extensive marshes of the Välijoki, which are also worth seeing.

Malahvia Nature Reserve

The northern and eastern shores of Lake Kevättijärvi, as well as the island, are part of the Malahvia Nature Reserve and belong to Kalevala Park. The Vienan reitti trail skirts the shore of Lake Kevättijärvi at Hyrynhiekka, from where one can admire the peace of the wilderness lake and the untouched island.
